A360 temporary closure update - 12 April 2024

A360 works underway

Work has begun on the A360 to instal high voltage cabling that will support the National Highways A303 Stonehenge project.

The temporary closure of the A360, between the Avenue roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout, will be in place until mid-July.

Work is being carried out seven days a week and includes some overnight working so the project can be completed as quickly and safely as possible.

As schools go back next week after the Easter holidays, please do plan your journeys and allow extra time if you’re travelling at peak times.

Diverted traffic

Many thanks if you have contacted us with questions about the closure and diversion.

Traffic is being diverted via the A345 and sections of the A303 and A36. Road signs are in place to direct traffic and highlight weight restrictions on nearby roads.

We will be conducting traffic monitoring to record the volume, weight and speed of traffic. This will allow a coordinated approach with Wiltshire Council to assess the restrictions that are in place and consider the need for additional traffic calming measures.

Wiltshire Police will also be conducting speed and weight checks in the area.

You can also report a driving offence, such as dangerous, careless or inconsiderate driving, through Wiltshire Police’s website.

Wiltshire Police review every report they receive and use the information to build its intelligence picture, inform policy and consider what action may be taken.

If you have any concerns or queries about the diversion signs, please do contact us at  info@a360temporaryclosure.co.uk or on 0330 175 5675 .

Local road network

National Highways and Wiltshire Council are working together to ensure that non-urgent work on the diversion routes and roads in the immediate area is avoided during the temporary closure of the A360.

If emergency work needs to take place, as there is a risk to people or property, the council and National Highways will work closely with utilities companies and contractors to ensure as much work as possible is completed overnight and outside busy periods.
